Positive developments for Patras-Pyrgos Motorway in Western Greece; according to secure information, the two remaining, “blocked” contracts of the project are about to be resolved, completing the puzzle of a total of 8 contracts regarding the construction of Olympia Motorway extension towards the capital of Ilia prefecture.

After the 10-day deadline provided by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, during which interested companies could file their appeals, one of the two contracts (and more particularly the 2nd one for Duneika-Amaliada section) was sent to the Court of Audit, concluding a long process that had started in the previous Autumn. However, regarding the third contract an appeal has been filed by J/V Themelis-Elliniki Idrokataskevi, which is even willing to proceed even with interim measures. After the “liberation” of the third contract, the project will be then very close to its construction stage.

It is noted that the two contracts concern Douneika-Amaliada-Killini section and have been awarded to INTRAKAT. The question is whether all eight contracts will finally be sent to the Greek Parliament for their ratification (provided that the last 2 are also approved by the Court of Audit) or the process will start with the first six.

The eight contracts have been awarded to four different contractors, each having two sections:

– TOXOTIS-OMADA KATASKEVON: Contracts 1+4 (Pyrgos-Duneika and Killini-Varda)

– INTRAKAT: Contracts 2+3 (Duneika-Amaliada and Amaliada-Killini)

– INTERKAT: Contracts 5 + 7 (Varda-Sagheika and Kato Ahaya-Industrial Area)

– GD INFRASTRUTTURE: Contracts 6+8 (Sagheika-Kato Ahaya and Industrial Area-Mintilogli).
