Thirty important infrastructure projects all over Greece expected to be completed in 2018

Thirty major projects are nearig the finishing line in the coming months of 2018. Some of these are particularly important and are expected to change our everyday lives. The completion of Tithorea-Domokos railway section in Thessaly is scheduled for early July, concluding upgrade works on Athens-Thessaloniki corridor. During the year, a new, double railway line between Kiato and Eghio, in Northern Peloponnese, 71 km long, is expected to operate as well as an electrified, single-track line between Polykastro and Idomeni, also completing the works onThessaloniki-Idomeni (borders) corridor.

Equally large and important is the extension of the Tramway to Piraeus area towards the end of the year. For Thessaloniki, the infrastructure “significance” of this years lies on the completion of Western Thessaloniki Ring Road’s multi-leveling works.

In Crete we expect the operation of  a 10 km long section of VOAK Motorway, between Gournes and Hersonissos, and a new road section between Aghia Varvara-Apomarmas.

In the railways, we have the completion of infrastructure works in Rododafni-Psathopyrgos section, in Western Greece, and multi-leveling works on the lines in Menemeni, Thessaloniki. Regarding road projects, we have the completion of road section between Agrinio and Aghios Vlassis (Western Greece), Kalloni-Sigri (Lesvos, Northern Aegean), Driopi-Galatas and Ardanio-Mandra in Evros (Eastern Macedonia and Thrace).

Big building projects include the completion of the Hospitals of Chalkida (Central Greece), Lefkada (Ionian Islands), Lesvos, AHEPA in Thessaloniki and Veria, Heraklion Cultural Center (Crete) and Asteras Vouliagmenis in Attica.

Other important projects under completion concern water supply networks for the town of Karditsa, Eastern Vistriza and Paxi Islands, sewage networks in Peania, port upgade works in Patras and Asopos Dam.
