A new auction has been announced by Attiko Metro -which has a momentum in auctioning new projects lately- regarding the signalling systems installation project for the extension of Thessaloniki Metro to Kalamaria. The project is considered necessary for the operation of the city’s second Metro Line. Implementing entity of the project is Attiko Metro.

The scope of the contract includes the study, procurement, installation, trial and operation of the Traffic Signaling and Tracking System (ATC) from “25th of March” Station to the terminal of Kalamaria Branch, Mikra Station.

The scope of the tender also includes the installation of the system to all 15 new trains, that will be used for the operation of the line (the project for the procurement of the system for those trains is expected to be auctioned towards the end of 2018 or early 2019).

The cost of the project is estimated at 27.28mln euros (incl. VAT, VAT excl. 22mln). The competition will take place on July 25th. The duration of the contract is set at 650 days for the current works and the modifications needed for the 18 new trains already ordered and 1,000 days for the installation of the system at the 15 new trains to be ordered with the forthcoming tender. The project is funded by NSRF 2014-2020.
