These are the next big infrastructure projects in the pipeline for the next couple of months

A series of major projects are expected to be added to the already large list of tenders for construction projects in the coming period. At the top of the list is the project of the expansion of Kimi Avenue, which will be the first expansion of Attiki Odos, after more than 20 years.

The project is being prepared by the Ministry of Infrastructure and aims to go on the air by the beginning of 2022. Its cost is estimated at around 300 million euros and will be the apple of contention for the big groups.

Another road project that will be auctioned is the famous bypass of Chalkida. The preparation of the project has gone through a difficult negotiation with the Jaspers as the daily flows are marginal according to what is accepted. The large road project of Evia is estimated to be auctioned in the next 12 months.

Leaving the road works, a project that the great construction companies are eyeing is the double waste disposal of Attica. A project that is extremely necessary for the sustainable waste management of the capital, is sure to attract the interest of European groups. Its cost exceeds 600 million euros and will be the largest project of its kind in our country. The competition is expected in 2021.

Thriasio II is also one of the new big bets. Although it is not a big budget project, it is a project with extremely high added value for the one who will manage to become a contractor. It will be auctioned as a PPP and will attract the interest of transport giants.

The big railway projects of course have their honorary. In the coming months, ERGOSE plans to launch a 3.3 billion euro package of projects that includes the new Thessaloniki-Kavala-Xanthi railway line, the extension to Rafina and Lavrio and the connection to the ports of Patras and Thessaloniki.

In the Metro projects we are waiting after the auction of the extension of line 2 to Ilion. At a cost of 400 million euros, it will cover densely populated areas and will have 3 stations: Palatiani, Ilion, Agios Nikolaos. The project will be auctioned by Attiko Metro within the next 12 months and will be a battlefield for the technical groups.
