Tenders of brand new railway projects will be expected from now on, as with the signatures of Psathopyrgos-Rio railway line upgrade works, in the following days, all pending projects from 2015 will have been covered.

It is true that tendering new projects had gone quiet recently; just 2 weeks ago, a question was submitted to the Greek Parliament, according to which ERGOSE administration has not tendered any new project for the past 19 months. This impression is about to change dramatically though as plenty new projects are about to emerge.

Starting from next month, the first major tender would be about the upgrade of Kiato-Eghio section, and more specifically, regarding the installation of the electrification and signaling systems. Infrastructure works for this section have progressed considerably and the line is expected to go operational in 2017.

From the Summer and on, there will be multiple tenders of more new projects. We will see tenders for:

– Athens’ Central Railway Station remaining upgrade works (Stage B’),

– The undergrounding of the railway line between Athens Central and Three Bridges Interchange at the Northwestern border of the municipality (if it secures funds from CEF tool),

– Upgrade works for Rododaphni-Psathopyrgos, which will bring a modern and fast railway line just next to Patras city,

– Upgrade works for Latomeio-Volos and Larissa-Volos railway lines,

– Restoration and signaling works for Isthmos-Loutraki railway line,

– and the electrification and signaling for Paleofarsalos-Kalampaka section.
