The “battles” for the series of contracts regarding Patra-Pyrgos Motorway (extension of the existing Olympia Motorway to the southwestern) continue. According to information of Ypodomes.com, the bids for the 5th contract, from a total of 8, are set for April 4th, 2017.

The contract concerns a road section with a length of 14.46 km which, distance-wise, is the longest one. Sources from the Infrastructure Ministry said to Ypodomes.com that the nomination of the 5th contractor, will allow the Greek authorities to officially seek a 75% funding from the EU, in the framework of large projects implementations (the overall length of the new road axis will be 74.5 km).

The cost of the project is estimated at 74,377,000 euros and includes both the project’s main scope along with all necessary accompanying works. The section to be tendered soon administratively belongs both to Ilia and Ahaia prefectures. This contract is by far the most important, financially speaking. The project will be completed in a time scale of 42 months after the contract’s signatures meaning that, if works start by the end of this years, their completion will be expected in late 2021.

The outcome of the forthcoming tender is also particularly interesting as the question is whether Kalogritsas conglomerate will be starring again by offering the biggest discount and securing its 5th consecutive contract. Kalogritsas’ contracts for this project alone are currently adding up to 251.87mn euros.

The project will be funded by NSRF and after its approval in Brussels, from DG Regio, the Greek Infrastructure Ministry will be officially announcing the lowest bidder of all 4 previous tenders.
