The first half of the “new” section of the coastal Poseidonos Ave. -in the area of Faliro- has been now released to traffic.

More pecifically, it concerns the direction to Glyfada, with four lanes and two “pseudo-tunnels”, since in the final phase these surface tunnels will be “covered” with soil in order for the Faliro Bay coastal park to be created.

The second half (i.e. direction to Piraeus) will be probably released to traffic by the beginning of July, connecting the newly built section with Kifissos Ave. and completing road works. However, the construction phase won’t stop there as the existing axis (on SEF-Syngrou Ave. section) will be  removed giving way for the flood defense project.

The next stage of the restoration includes a 90-million-euro worth tender for the construction of the coastal park, the largest in Greece, covering an area of 54 acres, which will be connected to Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center and Flisvos, creating a green “oasis” that will transform the area into one of the capital’s major attractions.

Implementing entity of the project is Attica region and the contractor is AKTOR.
