Investment interest for the concession project concerning the development of a Mall over Piraeus Railway Station has recently recovered, according to GAIOSE SA’s CEO, Mr. Athanasios Shizas, explaining delay issues regarding the implementation of this plan.

Given the location of the property and the opportunities presented by the upgrading of the seafront, at Kallimasiotis Coast, the extension of Suburban Railway services to Piraeus, the extension of the Tramway, in early 2019, and by 2021 the extension of Athens Metro Line 3 within a distance of 50 meters from the Railway Station, make the investment very attractive.

Regarding the maturation of the concession project, GAIAOSE has already prepared and submitted the special Urban Planning Study and the Environmental Impact Study of the facilities to the Central Council of Public Property for approval.

GAIAOSE’s plan for the upgrade and development of Piraeus Station’s property concerns the construction of a commercial building over the Railway Station, in accordance with the European standards.

The development of the property, covering an area of around 50,000 sq.m., is aiming to create a  new entertainment and commercial pole that will upgrade the wider area with hundreds of new jobs. For this project, the Municipality of Piraeus, the Technical Chamber of Greece and the Commercial Association of Piraeus are positive. The cost of the investment is estimated to exceed 50mln euros.
