The upward trend for the 14 regional airports managed by Fraport Greece, continued in April. More specifically, passenger traffic in April increased by 7.2%, with total passenger numbers standing at 1.43m compared to 1.33 million in the same month of 2018.
A remarkable double-digit increase was recorded in some of the regional airports (Aktion +77.1%, Kos +50%, Mykonos +30.6% and Skiathos +28.2% with the airports of Kavala and Chania being the only ones to have a negative performance of -29% and -13%, respectively.
As a result, passenger traffic for the first four months of this year is closing with an overall increase of 7.8%, compared to the corresponding period of 2018, with 3.35m passengers compared to 3.11m last year.
Additionally, increases over the course of the year’s first 4 months were recorded for the airports of Aktio (+65.5%), Kos (+43.7%) and Mykonos (+25.2%).
The majority of arrivals at the 14 airports in April, which totalled 529,475 passengers, came mainly from Germans (137,732), British (91,294), Dutch (40,195) and French travelers (32,996).
