Mytilineos – Ksanthakis J/V, declared contractor for Suburban Railway’s extension to Loutraki

Mytilineos – Ksanthakis J/V is the definite contractor (with a discount of 47.82%) for the project concerning the renovation of the single-track railway line in Isthmos – Loutraki section, with a length of 6 km. The upgrade also includes the installation of electrification and signalling systems.

A few days earlier, according to ypodomes.com, ERGOSE, on August 3, decided to declare as interim contractor the J/V, making the first step towards the signing of the contract. Now, we are entering the pre-contractual period, during which the contract will be sent to the Court of Auditors and then be signed.

The project is essentially an extension of the Suburban Railway, which includes the electrification and normalization of the existing single-track railway line between Isthmos and Loutraki to standard gauge. The reconstructed branch will be connected to the existing high-speed railway line of the Suburban Railway, operating between Kiato – Corinth and the Airport and will have 3 stations (Isthmos, Casino and Loutraki). Implementing entity is ERGOSE.

The cost of the project is 14,88mln  euros (VAT incl., excl. VAT 12mln euros). It is reminded tha the relevant auction was held on March 30 and the opening of the bids took place on April 4, 2018. If everything goes as planned, the construction phase of the project will start in the Autumn and will be completed within 18 months (approximately in mid-2020). The duration of the contract is set at 54 months while the project is funded by the National Investments Program (PDE).
