Large-scale investments for sewage networks in Eastern Attica, in progress

Tenders for sewerage networks in Eastern Attica are progressing, in response to a long-standing request of local bodies and residents of the area. The two relevant tenders are in progress, as EYDAP (i.e. Attica’s water company) with its decision announced a temporary contractor, AKTOR, with discount of 52%, for sewerage projects in Rafina, Pikermi, Spata and Artemida while for respective project in Pallini, the temporary contractor is J/V Ch. Konstantinidis-ELTERGA with 51.8%.

This is the first big step for the projects in Eastern Attica. At the same time, the other tenders for the biological treatment plant as well as the collection and treatment of urban wastewater of the municipalities of Rafina, Pikermi and Spata are proceeding too.

Here, there is one tender regarding the collection and transmission networks of Spata-Artemida (contractor is AKTOR with 55%) and a second one which concerns the construction of sewerage networks in the areas of Pikermi, Drafi, Aghios Spyridon, Dioni of Rafina-Pikermi municipality.

The cost of the project amounts to 42.40m euros (VAT incl., amount excl. VAT: 34.2m euros). The auction is due to take place on July 27 while the opening of bids is scheduled for the 31st of the same month. All projects are funded by NSRF 2014-2020.

A total of 257m euros is expected to be spent in order to create a 430km long sewage network with 18,000 external branches. All the above projects are part of a large investment programme of 1bn euros, that has been recently announced by EYDAP.

The main part of the projects concern Eastern Attica, where the company plans some 400,000 new connections and implements or has already planned projects amounting to 650-700m euros. Apart from the projects in Eastern Attica, EYDAP is also proceeding with the modernization of its network and the replacement of 100,000 water meters.
