A -scale investment of 165m euros has been systematically prepared over a long period of time on the island of Scorpios by the Russian tycoon, Dmitry Rimbolovlev. In order to make the ambitious plan to turn the island into a holiday paradise possible, world-class consulting firms such as AECOM, entered the game.

The plan includes a five star hotel, villas of impressive dimensions (200-1,200 sq.m.), marina, restaurants etc. For this specific plan that has been included in the Strategic Investments of the Ministry of Development and Investments, the consultation for the Environmental Impact Study was prepared and completed.

The company that will implement the visionary investment is Mycenae S.A. which, despite the large investment, will also preserve the historic Pink Villa of Aristotle Onassis that is expected to be one of its major assets .

The architectural study is signed by international names such as the Norwegian Snøhetta, Peter Marino Architect PLLC and the American Populous.

Greek companies also participated in the preparation as the urban planning study was prepared by DEKATHLON while among the consulting engineering firms are the companies DENCO and Rogan & Associates.

An impressive element will be two 600 sq.m. villas that will dominate the space and as it is understood, the goal of the investment is to attract the international jet-set. Visitors of Scorpios will have access -in addition to the impressive beaches of the island- spa services, a business center, cinema, night club, greenhouse, swimming pools and parking lots. Additionally, there will be an equestrian center, a farm, a church, agricultural crops, ancillary facilities and “Panagitsa” pier in the area of Panagitsa.

Southwest of the main tourist complex, the construction of four luxury villas, covering an area of 260-400 sq.m. each, located on a smooth slope, is also promoted. The four villas have a direct connection with the existing sports facilities of the island, which will be significantly expanded with the creation of a “multi-sports center”.

On the southwest side of the island, the construction of a tourist accommodation called “The house of the Hill” is planned, with a total size of 565 sq.m., in the area of the hill.

The projects are expected to start in 2021 with the completion of the investment’s maturation. It is obvious that the goal of the Russian businessman is to turn Scorpios Island not only into a luxury hot spot, but also a destination with the strictest environmental protection standards.

As the Russian tycoon has stated. “the basic idea is to create an ecological island with the greatest possible utilization of the existing landscape, its structure and its incomparable beauty.”

For the access of the visitors, a heliport is provided -apart from the marina- for those who will prefer to reach the island either directly from the mainland or by helicopter.
