“Our goal is to accelerate the projects both in Athens and Thessaloniki”, Mr. Nikos Kouretas, Attiko Metro’s new CEO, said shortly before his hearing in a House Committee earlier today. The new Chairman of Attiko Metro is Mr. Nikos Tachiaos.
Mr. Kouretas also announced that the first 3 stations of Athens Metro Line 3 extension to Piraeus, (i.e. AGHIA BARVARA, KORYDALLOS and NIKAIA), will be operational in the first quarter of 2020.
It is reminded that the major projects are currently underway by Attiko Metro are the extension of Metro Line 3 from Aghia Marina to Piraeus Municipal Theater (Dimotiko Theatro Station) and the extension of Tramway from Neo Faliro (current terminal) to the center and port of Piraeus with new single-track circular line.
In Thessaloniki, the main line from New Railway Station to Nea Elvetia Station is under construction as well as Kalamaria extension, from Patrikios Station to Mikra.
Tenders for the construction of Athens Metro Line 4 -and its precursory works- are also in progress, precursory works for the extension of Thessaloniki Metro network to the west and the procurement of 25 new tram trains.
