With the operation of the new toll stations in Eleonas and Rio, both on Olympia Motorway, the last piece of the projects’ puzzle is now considered complete on 4 out of 5 motorways. An announcement of Olympia Odos, made known that from Wednesday midnight to Thursday, September 14th, toll stations will go operational and the routes will be now measured in “euro-kilometres”.
Slightly earlier, an announcement was also published by Ionian Motorway regarding the operation of the last toll stations in Amfilochia-Egnatia Motorway section.
The journey from Athens to the capital of Western Greece region, Patras will now last about 2 hours and cost 11.50 euros, while the one to Ioannina, 3 hours and 40 minutes, costing 37.25 euros.
Now the only covered motorway that does not charge tolls per kilometer yet is the state-operated, Egnatia Motorway, which is also obliged to introduce a certain number of toll stations and will inevitably do so by 2018.
