Investments that will reach the amount of 1bn euros are planned by EYDAP, Attica’s state-owned water company, with a focus on the eastern part of the region, as it has announced by the company’s CEO, Mr. Haris Sachinis, in an online press conference earlier today.
Regarding the financial results, the head of the company stated in the previous year, an increase both in profits and EBITDA by 6.9% was recorded.
From the 1bn euro budget, about 500m euros concern projects to be implemented by 2024, while the other 500m euros are planned by 2029. Project funding is expected to be covered by European funds through NSRF 2014-2020, the new NSRF 2021-2027 and also own funds of the company.
A 43% of the projects concern sewerage works in the region of eastern Attica, 29% water supply networks, 20% sewerage projects in other areas, except eastern Attica and 7% various other infrastructure (e.g. buildings, environment projects, research and development, IT, etc.).
In Eeastern Attica, the projects will take place in the areas of: Rafina, Spata, Artemida, Pikermi, Marathonas, Glyka Nera and the area of Saronikos-Kropia. In the area of Glyka Nera, a contracted project is currently in progress. A total of 1,400 km of new sewerage networks will be constructed.
Sooner, by the end of 2021, 100m euro worth of projects will be implemented for the installation of smart water meters, the finalization of the tender for the wastewater treatment plant in Psyttalia island and the signing of the contract for the non-refined water with the Greek State.
Moreover, as it was noted, with the completion of actions related to the regulatory environment for the operation of EYDAP SA the return on investments in its networks and the funding of these investments from the market without having to resort to cash reserves.
