Investment for Thriassion Plain Logistics Centre, before the gates

The time has come for the big investment regarding the country’s first mega logistics centre in Thriassion Plain. As Mr. Thanassis Schizas, CEO of GAIAOSE, reported to Ypodomes.com, technical and financial consultation from Alpha Bank is under completion, allowing the official proclamation of the contractor and  the required approval of the plan by the Court of Auditors.

The concession contract is expected to be signed in the beginning of next year. This will signify the start of the implementation period for an investment estimated at around 180mn euros, over a period of 2 years. The concessionaire is the ETVA-Goldair joint venture for approximately, 60 years.

Thriassion Plain Logistics Centre will be featuring facilities with a surface of 235,000 sq.m., 250,000 pallet sockets, 210,000 sq.m. of warehouses, parking spaces for 4,000 cars and 120 trucks. The construction period will be divided in 2 phases. The first concerns the immediate construction of 120,000 sq.m. of warehouses while the second the construction of another 120,000 sq.m. of new storage spaces in the next 5 years.

The projects, according to the report of Ypodomes.com, have caused a dispute among certain construction companies as, although the winning consortium participated in the tender with particular constructions partner, another, well-known company has been involved, having expressed an earnest desire for the project, submitting indeed, an extremely enticing offer. With regard to the funding of the project, 35mn euros will be invested by ETVA-VIPE while an equal sum will be brought in by Goldair.

However, as Mr Schizas pointed out, as opposed to public works, the approval process DG Comp while unfold at the same time with signing the contract and its submission to the Parliament for ratification. Hill International was nominated  as the Independent Engineer of the project, after a public tender. 

GAIAOSE, will receive 10mn euros after the contract’s signature and an annual lease fee, equivalent to 2.51% of the annual turnover, with the guaranteed lease, reaching 350,000 in the first year.
