INTRAKAT secured the third contract for the construction of the “sliced” Patra-Pyrgos Motorway (Amaliada-Killini), according to a decision taken by the Ministry of Infrastructure, since the auction has been finally approved. The project that was originally auctioned in the Summer of 2016 was initially awaded to the underbidding J/V Toksotis-Construction Group.

However, in the previous Autumn, it became known that the original J/V was expelled, passing the contract to the next in line, GD Infrastrutture. With yet another overturn, the company’s documents were found to be inadequate, resulting it to be finally ruled out and INTRAKAT acquiring the project as its documents were finally accepted.

In the exact same way, the second contract (Douneika-Amaliada section), INTRAKAT was also announced as the underbidder on December 14, when the Italian company made a preliminary appeal which was finally rejected.

These are the 2 remaining contracts that have not completed their pre-contractual period. The other 6 contracts are expected to go through the Greek Parliament to be ratified allowing the initiation of their construction period shortly after. Now, if GD Ifrastrutture persists with new appeals we may reach Summer 2019 for the signing of the contracts. It is also reminded that they have to be sent to the Court of Audit and, of course, the Parliament.

Patra-Pyrgos Motorway, along with Lamia-Xyniada section of E65 Motorway in Central Greece, is one of the largest new road projects with funding from NSRF 2014-2020. Its completion is expected in 2022.
