Statistics published by the Civil Aviation Authority, concerning January-November 2018 period, show a record increase of airport traffic load increase. 

The total number of passengers in January-November 2018 reached 61,281,521, accounting for an increase of 10.1%, compared to the same period in 2017 (55,677,135  passengers), or 5,604,386 passengers in absolute numbers. It is worth mentioning that the Commander of CAA, Mr. Konstantinos Lintzerakos in early November, speaking at the European Air Transport Conference, pointed out that the passenger traffic in the Greek airports would exceed 60m passengers.

The total number of flights to Greek airports amounted to 508,270 (193,215 of which were domestic and 315,055 international), showing an increase of 9.9% compared to the same period in 2017 where 462,670 flights were carried out in total.

Additionally, from November 2018 statistics, the following results have been obtained: 2,585,312 passengers were transported in the Greek airports, with an average increase of 13.8%. The total number of flights was 24,924, woth an increase of 16% (at the same period last year, 21,488 flights were made).

It is also worth mentioning that the arrivals of foreign passengers have reached 640,251, showing an increase of 17.1% compared to 2017 where there were 546,551 arrivals. The biggest passenger traffic in November 2018 was recorded in Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Rhodes and Chania airports.
