May 2018 is expected to be a very interesting month in terms of its “infrastructure agenda” and be full of developments equally for new, tendered and under-completion projects. In the category of projects that will be auctioned, the long-expected “sweep contract” for Amvrakia Motorway dominates with a cost of about 152mn euros. In the coming days, we are expecting the tender to come out and finally complete Ionian Motorway’s first vertical axis.

The important electrification project for Paleoparsalos-Kalambaka railway section, which has been delayed, is also expected to be auctioned in May. In the field of the projects that are about to start, the procurement of 25 new Tram trains for Athens, stands oout. The relevnt contract will be signed within the month. The contractor is the French giant. Alstom.

It is also very likely during the month to see the signatures for the development of Thriassion Plain Logistics Center, the country’s first large-scale Logistics Park. It is highly probable that signatures for the new Waste Treatment Plants in Peloponnese and Ilia will have also been completed by the end of May.

In the field of completed projects, there is nothing particularly special at the moment; the only major project expected to operate in May is Lefkada Hospital.

Of course, keep in mind that on May 15 and 16, the 2nd Infrastructure and Transport Congress will be held at the Amphitheater of the Hellenic War Museum in Athens, with extremely interesting talks and a rich two-day agenda.
