Yesterday’s decision by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport appointed 150mn euros for the “sweep contract” of Amvrakia Motorway, that will mark the completion of the project, verifying the report of Ypodomes.com from last week. The amount includes VAT. An important factor of the project is an extra 10mn euros, as an option, for the road’s connections with Ionian Motorway.
Auctioning is expected to take place in the next few days and the completion of the completion of the project , once the contract is signed by the end of the year, is determined for the beginning of 2022.
The road has features of a covered motorway with 2 lanes (+shoulder) per direction. It will cut, by at least 40 minutes, the currently deadly road connection from Amfilochia to Aktio, a route with a particularly high death toll.
The new road will reduce significantly time distance and mileage between Aktio and the entire West Coast of Etoloakarnania and Epirus regions.
