The process for the financing of the large PPP road project Kalamata-Pylos-Methoni begins. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport announced its intention to finance this project in an announcement on the DIAYGEIA site.

Essentially, with this announcement, the process of submitting proposals from the EYDE CONSTRUCTION OF TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS WITH CONCESSION CONTRACT (EYDE/KSESP) is initiated, in order for the project to cover the financial contribution of the State, as is done in every such project.

The announcement of the intention of financing to EYDE/KSESP, is issued in the context of the improvement of the safety of the road infrastructure of the Southwest Peloponnese and following the approval of the application for the inclusion of the following project in the provisions of Law 3389/2005 (A’ 232) by the PPP Interministerial Committee .

The submission of proposals began on February 17 and will end on March 31, 2023. Then there will be a relevant update regarding the acceptance of the proposal.

The tender for the project “Study, Construction, Financing, Operation and Maintenance of the Southwestern Peloponnese Road Axis, Section Kalamata – Rizomylos – Pylos – Methoni, with PPP” is in progress, and the contractor is expected to be announced. This will mark the start of the pre-contractual period of the major road project for Messinia.

According to the information, in the next period, the temporary contractor will be finalized. Then the process of drawing up the contract and sending it for approval by the Court of Auditors will begin.

The second largest project in the Peloponnese

This is the largest road project in the southern Peloponnese and the second largest for the wider region, behind Patra-Pyrgos. Provided there are no further delays, the PPP contract may be signed in the first quarter of 2023.

The sponsoring scheme is AKTOR CONCESSIONS-INTRAKAT which managed to prevail in the relevant tender. It is recalled that the tedner of the project started on June 19, 2019 with the expression of interest. Its duration was set at 30 years, four of which relate to the construction period. The cost of the project with the corresponding VAT for the entire period was estimated at 312.23 million euros.

The duration of the PPP contract will be 360 months (30 years).

It is noted that the project includes:

The improvement and upgrading of approximately 20 km of existing roads,

The construction of a new highway in a length of about 30 km,

The adaptation and improvement of 7 km of vertical road network,

The construction of a new side road network of 40 km,

The construction of 12 bridges

Many accompanying technical works such as level junctions, hydraulic works, retaining walls, etc.

Construction of 15 km of local access roads.
