At least 5 investment schemes have expressed their interest at GAIAOSE for the future Logistics Park, in Gonos former army camp, Thessaloniki. According to reliable information, besides TERNA and Belterra, also AKTOR, Thessaloniki Port Authority and a company controlled by Melissanidis have expressed their interest.

All the above, and perhaps even more, are expected to compete for the acquisition of the country’s second largest Logistics Park with a surface of 672,000 sq.m., for a period of 50 years. It is estimated that an investment of around 200mln euros will be required.

The tender concerns the award of a concession contract for the study, construction, funding, operation and maintenance of a Freight Center in the site of Gonos former army camp.

According to the same sources, the site has excellent accessibility as there will be a railway connection between Gonos site, the main railway network, and the Port of Thessaloniki. For the East, traffic studies will be carried out, in order for optimal connections to the area’s road network, to be established.

It is reminded that the submission of the binding offers has been estimated for the end of July. Until then, a competitive dialogue will take place for the finalization of the concession terms. According to the same sources, there could either be a unique contractor for the whole area, or a coalition of multiple companies which could share the space, maximizing its commercial utilization.

Participants in this phase of the competition are the schemes that had already participated in the stage of Expression of Interest.
