Costanzo Graffi (AECOM): The tools for infrastructure development

Infrastructure development, responding to the modern needs of interconnectivity, intelligent mobility and energy saving, was at the heart of the presentation by Costanzo Graffi, head of AECOM’s Motorway Department.

According to AECOM executive, new types of infrastructure, new design, construction and maintenance methods, as well as upgrading of existing infrastructure will become necessary in the coming years, observing that the construction industry will keep playing a key role in these developments, with digitization and high-tech applications being two important “tools”.

Finally, Mr. Graffi referred to technological innovations such as 3D printing and wearables, which are expected to improve safety and reliability in construction.
