Technical and financial offers regarding the new electronic tolling system project will be submitted by February and 2 months later, in April it is expected for the contractor to be declared. This was stated yesterday by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Christos Spirtzis during the debate on the ratification of the contract for the construction of E65 Motorway’s Southern section, Lamia-Ksyniada.

It is reminded that the consortia that have been qualified to the tender’s Phase B’ are the following:

1. J/V VINCI HIGWAYS SA – VINCI Concessions SAS – KAPSCH TraficCom AG – TERNA SA

2. J/V NUSZ – MYTILINEOS

3. J/V AKTOR SA-Autostrade Tech SpA – INTRAKAT – INTRASOFT INTERNATIONAL SA

4. J/V OTE – T-Systems

5. J/V STRABAG AG – SKYTOLL AS

Provided that there won’t be any further delays until next Autumn, the “golden” contract of 400m euros will have been signed.

What is important in this new system is not just its proportional charging, that is, charging per kilometer and the abolishment of the traditional toll stations, but also its overall use.

Through this system it will be made possible, especially in the case of commercial vehicles, to check the hours spent on the motorways network and the routes used. In this way, it is believed that black labor and illegal traffic of goods will also be combatted.

The new electronic-satellite system being introduced by the Ministry will be implemented in consultation with the concessionaires of the country’s motorways, including the currently state-owned, Egnatia Motorway in the Northern part of the country.
