Consultants for Crete’s Motorway environmental studies and tenders, assigned

Consultants for the environmental study and the two tenders regarding the construction of Crete’s Northern Motorway Axis (aka VOAK) have been hired by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, just a few days before the national elections.

According to the relevant decision, “ADVANCED ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES CONSULTANTS” will undertake the environmental studies for 140,000 euros (amount excl. VAT) for a period of 4 months in order to assist the contracting authority in the preparation of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) both for the concession project (i.e. Heraklion-Hersonissos ) and the PPP project (i.e. Hersonissos-Neapolis).

Another decision assigns “DROMOS LTD”, for a total fee of 218.000 euros (amount excl. VAT), a 30-month contract in order to assume, as a technical advisor, the assistance of the Directorate of Transport of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, with a concession contract, for the tenders of the two motorway projects.

The schemes that have passed to Stage B’ for Kissamos-Chania-Heraklion-Hersonissos section are:

Similarly, the participants for the PPP tender concerning Hersonissos-Neapolis section are the following:

4. J/V MYTILINEOS-ACCIONA-INTERTOLL,

5. SHIKUN&BINUI.

It is worth mentioning that each tender is totally independent making it possible for 2 different contractors to be finally awarded for the projects. Last but not least, the auctioning of the third section from Neapolis to Aghios Nikolaos is expected, as a public project, that will complete the motorway system of Crete island. Contracting authority of this project is the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
