A number of major projects is about to be completed and released to the public by the end of April 2017. The country’s new motorways are in the spotlight, as after many years of construction works, will finally become available to the drivers and, to a certain extent, change our reality.

More specifically, on the motorways’ front, Olympia Motorway (Corinth-Patras), Ionian Motorway (Antirrio-Ioannina), E65 (Ksiniada-Trikala) and Aegean Motorway (Evangelismos-Skotina) along with the longest road tunnel in the Balkans (Tempi), will be delivered after 8 years of, seemingly endless, works.

In the end of February, upgrade works in Chania Airport (Crete) and “Aghios Andreas” General Hospital in Patras will be concluded as well.

In Spring, we also expect the completion of Stage B railway works in Thriassio Pedio Logistics Hub and the PPP project for 24 new school facilities in Attica region (some of them are already completed). By Easter 2017, 3 vertical road axes providing road connections with Egnatia Motorway will also become operational. These are: Siatista-Krystallopigi, Thessaloniki-Promahonas and Komotini-Borders.

These projects will give us just a first taste, as other important ribbon-cuttings will follow later in 2017, namely two railway projects in Tithorea to Lianokladi and Kiato to Rododafni lines.
