A new extension, the fourth in a row, has been granted for the submission of the technical and financial offers for the new Athens Metro Line 4. It is noted that, originally, the tender was scheduled for December, 10. According to sources of ypodomes.com, the new date, and probably the definite one, will be March, 15.

As in the previous times, the reason for the extension, is to give time, for better preparation, to the contenders claiming the colossal project for the Greek standards, reaching a budget of 1.8bn euros.

Attiko Metro aims to award the contract in the summer period and sign it by the end of the year, allowing the initiation of the construction period shortly after. Nevertheless, Attiko Metro’s major project is also due to define the leader in the domestic construction sector, because of its budget, that will secure the first place in the one of the big 3 companies’ (i.e.  AKTOR, TERNA or J&P AVAX) backlog for at least 10 years.

It is reminded that the tender concerns the first phase of Athens Metro Line 4, from Veikou Grove to Goudi Park with a length of approximately 13 km and 15 new underground stations, most of which will be serving the most densely populated areas of Athens, such as Kypseli, Exarchia, Kolonaki and Zografou.
