Tram works regarding the extension of the line to Piraeus proceed satisfyingly. The project seems to have overcome all major issues of the past making it possible for the Tram to go operational by the end of the year. This would be the longest line extension of the network since its first operation in the summer of 2004.

The project’s maturity is now obvious as main roads that had been blocked and transformed to construction sites in the previous years, are gradually being restored and released back to traffic. The main roads have improved considerably as they have been resurfaced and undergone an extensive “lifting” during the tram works. Undoubtedly, the advent of the Tram in Piraeus is expected to improve drastically local transportation conditions while the completion of Metro Line 3 extension in the following years will revolutionize the image of the city, in general.
