The new extensions of the Metro to Petroupoli, Glyfada, Kallithea and PYRKAL (Dafni) have been decided by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Attiko Metro. With its decision, YPOME invites the beneficiary to submit pre – project studies for funding for the four major extensions of the Athens Metro.

As it is noted in the specific decision, the object of those projects will be tenders for the studies concerning the following lines:

-Preliminary studies for the new branch of line 1 Thiseio- Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF / Kallithea).

-Preliminary design for the extension of line 4 in the section Evangelismos-PYRKAL-Dafni.

Preliminary studies for the extension of line 2 Elliniko-Glyfada.

Preliminary study for the western extension of the line Alsos Veikou – Petroupoli.

It is estimated that a total of 10,623,120 euros are estimated to be required to complete these studies. For each line extension there will be separate tenders for the preparation of the necessary studies.

The tenders will start as soon as the above project is included in the ESPA 2021-2027, specifically in the Operational Program of Transport Infrastructure. These studies will pave the way for the future auction and materialization of these projects in future ESPA (2027-2033).

We should clarify that as far as the large extension of line 4 Goudi-Maroussi-Ethniki Odos, topographic, geological and geotechnical studies have already been completed. The continuation of the studies in this extension will be done with funds that will be secured in the future by ESPA.

It should be reminded that the extension of line 2 Anthoupoli-Agios Nikolaos is expected to go for auction at the end of the year. At the same time there is another extension line, that of line 2 from Agios Nikolaos in Ilion to Ano Liossia and Menidi. This project also requires funds to mature in terms of design and at some point in the future to move towards materialization.
