An extensive cooperation was inaugurated yesterday between Athens International Airport and low-cost airliner “Scoot”. Yesterday, the first flight arrived at 8.30 in the morning reinstating the connection of the Greek capital with the affluent market of Southeast Asia.

Scoot, is a low-cost airliner, entirely owned by Singapore Airlines, carrying out long-distance flights. For the summer season, there will be 4 flights between Athens and Singapore per week with Boeing 787 Dreamliner (a just 2-month old aircraft!). Airlineratings.com awarded Scoot the title of the best low-cost airliner in Asia-Pacific region for 3 consecutive years (2015-2017) while it consequently made its way to the top-10 of the world’s best low-cost airliners for 2016, by Skytrax. The company anticipates increased interest from the passengers, due to the “value for money” services it provides. Flight duration is 11 hours.

During the relevant media event, a tour in the aircraft’s interior, that can accommodate roughly 350 passengers, took place. AIA’s CEO, Mr. G. Paraschis noted that traffic between the 2 countries in the past 3 years has doubled, and from Athens alone a 60% increase has been recorded.

Athens is the very first destination to be directly linked by Scoot, which indicates the company’s keen interest into the Greek touristic product. It is noteworthy, that ticket prices offered by Scoot are particularly cheap, as one can find return tickets in the price of 180 euros. This of course would not include, food and water on board, that would come at an extra cost.
