The Alimos Marina is set to enter a “new era” soon.

AKTOR Concessions, in collaboration with REDS, is expected to begin the redevelopment project of the Alimos Marina in the coming months. The aim is to upgrade it into one of the most modern tourist marinas in the Mediterranean.

This is the largest marina in the Balkans and represents a strategic investment of around 100 million euros in the rapidly developing coastal front of Athens. The project is expected to generate significant added value, both locally and nationally.

It is worth noting that AKTOR Concessions has signed a Concession Agreement granting the right to use, operate, manage, and exploit the Alimos Marina for a period of 40 years, with the option for a mutual extension for an additional 10 years.

How the New Alimos Marina Will Be Developed

The development plan for the Alimos Marina by AKTOR Concessions and REDS envisions the creation of a modern and attractive recreational hub.

In the marina’s land area, approximately 18,000 square meters of modern building facilities are planned, which will host dining, hotel services, office spaces, and retail activities. The surrounding area of the marina will be transformed into a pleasant seaside recreational destination, open to the public and designed to be pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly.

According to the development plans, the layout will include extensive green spaces, plazas, pedestrian walkways, and bicycle paths. To better accommodate visitors, parking spaces will also be significantly increased.

At the same time, services for boat owners mooring at the marina will be upgraded, aiming to make Alimos Marina one of the most modern marinas in the Mediterranean.

The Hotel Plans

According to the project’s Environmental Impact Study, the land area development will also include the construction of a hotel.

As previously mentioned by the management of REDS, the hotel will be small in size, with a capacity of 60 to 100 rooms.

The hotel complex, which will include dining areas and sports facilities, as well as the land-based storage and maintenance area for boats (along with certain administrative and operational functions of the marina, such as the control tower and sanitation facilities), will be located in the northwest section of the marina’s land area.

This land area, which was previously formed through sea reclamation, takes the shape of a peninsula, surrounded by the sea on its northern, western, and southern sides (with the southern side in contact with the marina’s basin).

This is the most remote area of the marina’s land zone, a location that aligns with the functions of these facilities for reasons of both comfort (minimizing disturbance to hotel guests from the public) and safety.

The avoidance of disturbances between the land-based storage area and the hotel complex is achieved through the difference in elevation between the two and the use of tall vegetation along the boundary separating them.
