The Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Mr. Nikos Hardalias, announced during yesterday’s briefing for the coronavirus that as of yesterday afternoon on tolls throughout the country and on all routes concerning motorways and their side roads, on national ring roads and national roads, the Greek Police has installed checkpoints for the movement of all vehicles, on a 24-hour basis.

Respectively, Mr. Hardalias informed that the Coast Guard has already received similar orders and is proceeding with checks in all ferry stations.

Regarding the airports, the ports, the railway stations and the intercity buses stations of the country, Mr. Hardalias announced that only permanent residents will be allowed to move to their houses, based on legal documents indicating the permanent residence and without the possibility of return until the end of the general measures.

Officers of the Armed Forces, as well as nursing staff, the staff of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection and the technical staff of the country’s critical infrastructure, are excluded.

He also said that in cases where unjustified movement is found outside the prefecture of people attempting to move by car, the fine will be doubled to 300 euros, the license plates will be removed for 60 days and the vehicle will be returned to the place it started its journey. As far as the Holy Light is concerned, as he informed, its transfer at home will not be allowed.
