Construction works for Patras new Intercity Buses Terminal, began

The construction works for the conversion of St. George’s Mills (aka Mili Aghiou Georgiou) to a modern Intercity Buses Terminal (KTEL) in Patras, the third largest city in Greece, are  now underway. According to information, the contractor has already started some preliminary works while the crucial factor is to complete the project within a 18-months period. The aim is for the new Terminal Station to be ready by the end of 2020. The cost of the project amounts to 9.3m euros (incl. VAT, excl. VAT: 7.5m euros).

An important element of the new station is the proximity to the Railway Station of Aghios Dionysios, which, with the completion of upgrade works and the arrival of the electric train in Patras, will create a large transport hub in the area, comprising trains, urban buses and intercity buses, as well as coastal transport.

Essentially the new Terminal will be located 200 m. away from the existing one, that has started operation in 1975 and is considered to be obsolete. In the area of ​​the former industrial building, apart from the necessary facilities, able to accept intercity buses, a mini shopping center will be created, for the needs of the passengers.

Implementing entity of the project is KTEL Achaias S.A. and funding of the project will come from private funds. The bids were submitted on February 22nd and the opening of the offers, 5 days later, on February 27th 2018.
