Piraeus will finally be the starting of all Suburban Railway’s itineraries, according to TRAINOSE’s officials. More specifically, with the launch of the commercial operation in Athens-Piraeus section, itineraries to Kiato, the Airport and Chalkida will be starting from Piraeus Port.
This signifies the direct connection of the country’s main Port to Athens’ International Airport for the very first time, without the need for additional changes between trains or other means of transport.
Travelers from Peloponnese will also have easier access to Piraeus Port services and consequently to the islands, a fact that underlines the strategic importance of Piraeus Terminal, which will, undoubtedly, become the largest transport hub of the region.
It is reminded that the trial operation for the safety of the electrification systems are underway while commercial services are expected to become available the immediate future.
