262 million euro railway projects will be auctioned by ERGOSE in the next 100 days

ERGOSE is going to auction four projects worth 262 million euros in the next 100 days or until January. According to a speech by the ERGOSE President and CEO, Mr Christos Vinis, the projects concern:

• The electrification in the Larissa-Volos section (66m euros), auction in October
• The signing-ETCS on the line Thessaloniki-Eidomeni (46 million euros), auction in October
• Phase B of the Athens Central Railway Station (40 million euros), auction in November
• The neew double line Aigio-Rio (lines, electric, signaling, stations), (110 million euros), auction in January.

Mr. Vinis noted that in total the auction of projects of up to 630 million euros budget is progressing, as well as the auction of projects with the process of the competitive budget dialogue of 3.3 billion euros.

According to Mr. Vinis, the development goals set by ERGOSE are, among others, the strengthening of intermodality with an emphasis on commercial transport with connections to ports and airports, the completion of the backbone of the country’s railway network (PATHE axis), and the completion of the development of the suburban railway network.

The head of ERGOSE made an account of the first year of his management in the company, noting that a new technical solution was designed for the interconnection of Patras, the project for the new railway station in Neo Panteleimona Pieria was auctioned and the new double line Kiato- Aigio was put into operation, the Price Library was created, tender documents were prepared for 3 projects, the process of project implementation was accelerated and that there was legislation for the redistribution of the remaining management costs among others.

It is worth noting, as he emphasized, that all the projects that are included in the Competitive Budget Dialogue connect the major ports of the country with the railway network, contributing to the vision of the Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport for the creation of a large commercial hub in our country.
